Rotational smoothing

چکیده
Rotational smoothing is a phenomenon consisting in gain of regularity by means averaging over rotations. This present operators that regularize only certain directions, contrast to regularizing all directions. The the result rotating directions where corresponding operator performs effect. In this paper we carry out systematic study rotational for class includes k-vector-space Riesz potentials Rn with k<n, and convolution fundamental solutions elliptic constant-coefficient differential acting on k-dimensional linear subspaces. Examples latter type are planar Cauchy transform Rn, or solution transport equation Rn. analysis motivated resolution some inverse problems under low-regularity assumptions.

Smoothing out sandpiles: rotational bulldozing of granular material
Predicting the dynamics of dense granular flow plays an important role in engineering and geophysical flow which involve the transport of granular materials such as for instance cereals, rocks or sand. In the past decade, most of the studies have focused on the flow of granular material on inclined surface due to the obvious applications in rock avalanches, landslides and pyroclastics flows [14...
متن کاملProbability Smoothing
Smoothing overcomes the so-called sparse data problem, that is, many events that are plausible in reality are not found in the data used to estimate probabilities. When using maximum likelihood estimates, unseen events are assigned zero probability. In case of information retrieval, most events are unseen in the data, even if simple unigram language models are used (see N-GRAM MODELS): Document...

The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of income smoothing on investors reaction to Earnings Persistence of companies listed on the Stock Exchange in Tehran. The population of the study was companies listed on the Stock Exchange in Tehran, the sample size due to screening method and after removing outliers is equal to 118 companies. In this study, earnings persistence an...
متن کاملSpatial Smoothing
The size of the Gaussian kernel defines the "width" of the curve which determines in turn how much the data is smoothed. The width is not expressed in terms of the standard deviation ?, as customary in statistics, but with the Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM). In this case the FWHM would be 2.35: The maximum of this curve is y = 0.4 at x = 0. The half maximum is y = 0.2 at x = -1.175 and at x ...
